Flexible Working Advice & Resources

Superfast Cornwall has delivered broadband infrastructure in Cornwall through a series of three key programmes since 2010 and continues to work to bring the benefits of superfast broadband to as many households and businesses as possible. (Link to Superfast Cornwall website.)

The pioneering 2011-2015 Superfast Cornwall programme was a £132 million partnership between the EU, BT, Cornwall Council and the Isles of Scilly Council.

The programme delivered upgrades to around 256,000 premises, with around 90% of these able to connect to 24+Mbps superfast broadband. Around 84,000 premises were upgraded with Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), the future-proofed solution which runs a fibre-optic cable all the way to the premises. This is a far higher proportion than any other rural area in the country.

The two Superfast Cornwall programmes since 2015 have continued to roll out superfast broadband to as many as possible of the remaining premises and the current programme will run until 2020.

Superfast Cornwall has undertaken numerous research projects looking at the use of superfast broadband in businesses. This research has highlighted the benefits and issues associated with flexible working, which can increase productivity and improve work-life balance.
