The actnow flex project in Cornwall was the first ever UK project to look in depth at the impacts of flexible working and teleworking on small and medium sized businesses. Continuing to spearhead new developments, Cornwall is now rolling out the pioneering Superfast Cornwall programme, which aims to make Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly one of the best connected places in the world by 2014.

Everyone has the formal right to request flexible working if they are the parent of children 16 or under. This is in addition to parents of disabled children under 18 and people caring for adults in need of care. Of course, anyone has the right to informally make a request, and our proven productivity benefits, cost savings and improvements to customer service all help to make the business case!
From 30 June 2014, all employees have the legal right to request flexible working - not just parents and carers.
Employees must have worked for the same employer for at least 26 weeks to be eligible.
